ERROR CAN ONLY SET UP A BACKUP DISK DRIVE

Error that could only set up a backup drive for the Dell EMC SC280 or SCv180 disc tray

This error occurs when deploying Dell EMC SC280 or SCv180 disk trays (84 hard disks / tray type).

It is recommended that a minimum of four (04) hard drives are designated as backup for each SC280 or SCv180 disc tray. However, when a SC280 or SCV180 deployment is connected to a new or existing central storage system, the Dell EMC Storage Manager may not allow setting up more than one (01) backup hard disk. >

Workaround:

If the SCOS version is older than 7.x, use a GUI (web-based) management program during SC280 or SCv180 deployment and select a valid backup drive.

If the SCOS version is 7.0.1 to 7.1.12, the number of spare drives will need to be set via the command line. Customers can contact Dell support for support.

Affected Versions:

SC040, SCV2000 series, SC4020, SC5020, SC7020, SC8000, and SC9000 Storage Center run SCOS version less than 7.1.20.

Bug fix version:

The above bug has been resolved in SCOS versions 7.1.20 and 7.2.10 or higher.
