Dell EMC Server PowerEdge T640 (Dell T640) – is Dell EMC’s line of versatile Dell server servers. The Dell T640 is a high-performance server with optimized 2-CPU processing and large internal storage on a rack or tower platform. The highly scalable Dell T640 server enables large, diverse workloads to be hosted for small to mid-sized offices, remote offices, and data centers.

Dell EMC’s PowerEdge T640 is a server line capable of handling any workload a business requires. This server family supports 2 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores per processor. Customers can easily upgrade from a 1-CPU configuration to a 2-CPU configuration to support more memory, storage, and PCIe channels to better meet business needs.

The 3.5-inch configuration includes 8 or 18 SAS, SATA drives (HDD/SSD) for up to 180TB of storage. Using 2.5-inch drives, the system will support up to 16 or 32 SAS/SATA drives (HDD/SSD). Another configuration combines up to 16 2.5-inch drives with up to 8 NVMe, SAS/ SSD/ NVMe (HDD/ SSD) for up to 112TB of storage. Storage options include an integrated Dual SD Card Module (iDSDCM) for redundant hypervisor support including a vFlash Module for use with iDRAC 9.0 disk image storage. The storage controller includes PERC H330, H730P, H740P internal controller and H840 12Gbps external controller with S140 software RAID.

Designed for SMEs and Mid-Range Enterprises, the Dell EMC PowerEdge T640 targets a wide range of applications including virtualization, server consolidation, large databases, ERP and HPC. It has plenty of space inside for future expansion with 8 empty PCIe slots and also supports Dell EMC microSD controllers and BOSS cards (boot optimized storage solutions).
